Insecurity

“The enemy uses those things you’re insecure about. Free yourself and take your power back by being secure in who you are – flaws and all.” -Yvonne Pierre

I is for Insecurity

Have you ever felt that you were not good enough? If you have, chances are you were feeling the emotion of insecurity. Most people will feel insecure or lack confidence in themselves at one time or another. Some people can manage their insecurity better than others and you may never know of their lack of confidence in their own value. It is important that we overcome our insecurities in order to raise our self-esteem. There are many ways in which a person can become emotionally insecure. Being raised in an unstable home, a divorce, not doing well in school, not being accepted by peers, and never receiving a lot of positive reinforcement can leave a person questioning their personal capability.

I believe that today’s society creates an abundance of insecurity, especially with teens. One way is how self-image is displayed. In today’s world beauty equals extremely thin! Teens that don’t fall into this category are often made to feel inferior. This can lead to eating disorders, such as Anorexia.

Synonyms of insecurity – self-double

  1. Nice post. I am not looking forward to the very insecure teen years with my kids. It’s hard to watch them change from being confident kids to letting other judge them.

    • I am glad my kids are grown! Raising teenagers with all the pressure that they have on them now is really hard. Good luck! Thank you for reading and commenting on my blog post.

  2. Yeah, this is one tough word to deal with. And it’s something we obviously all struggle with, so thanks for bringing it out and letting us know we’re not alone!

    • No, we are not alone when it comes to insecurity. Some people hide theirs but I believe everyone has some degree of insecurity. Thank you for reading and commenting on my blog post.
