Y is for Yearning

If you are part of a military family you know only too well the feeling of longing when a loved one is deployed. All involved deal with sadness, worry, and wanting that military member home. When someone we love dies it leaves a deep pain in our heart and we yearn for how things used to be. I know I will forever yearn for my parents. The winter this year has been extremely cold and long which has left many of us wanting the warmer weather of spring.

Not only do I long for my parents but I also yearn for my children and grandchildren who live far away (my son and son-in-law are in the Navy and both live in other states). I have missed so many holidays, celebrations, and my grandchildren growing up.

Yearning can sometimes cause depression. It can also be a motivator in accomplishing a goal.

Also known as Ms57Classic I came into this world on a summer morning on July 22, 1957. Newborn babies usually do not cry real tears at birth because their tear ducts have not formed yet. But I cried real tears! I have been through many things in my life and have dealt with a multitude of situations and emotions. I have been married and divorced twice. I am an ex-navy wife. I am a mom, a Grammie of 8 (so far), a sister, an aunt, and a friend of longevity. I have a son and a son-in-law in the US Navy and am very proud of their job decision and their accomplishments. My job as a mother is FOREVER. It will not stop when a child of mine reaches the age of 18! I have always been well liked, but not liked by all. I can stretch a dollar like it’s a rubber band. I like the person I am. I graduated from a writing school. I am in the process of writing a book. I graduated from University of Phoenix at the age of 56 with an associate’s degree in Art. I am disabled, having a multitude of health issues. I had a corneal transplant and since then have become an advocate for organ and tissue donation. One of my hobbies is finding those who share the exact birthday as me – July 22, 1957.   1. Aww…I know how this feels. My dad was in a transferable job and many a times due to our schooling we couldn’t shift with him. Those few months apart, me and sis would yearn for him – the evening tea, walks and badminton.Aditi, A2Z survivor
