Immediate Justice

Founded in 2008, Immediate Justice teaches and mentors high school girls to tell their personal stories through films.
This non-profit organization believes that the media is a very influential form of communication that often lacks authentic voices. Often it sends messages which stereotype or misconceive, which determines how people view and understand the world.
Immediate Justice provides film industry professionals who teach these young girls how to write, direct and film their own stories. From this, truthful films on a range of topics such as diversity issues, relationships, and sexual identity are produced to ignite positive changes in the world.
Since its beginning, Immediate Justice has worked with more than 1,000 youth and piloted programs in the U.S. India and China.

I agree! I really like the concept of this organization.
Really liked reading about this organization! There’s something so empowering about telling a story–and capturing it on camera just adds that legitimization.
It’s getting it out in the open and in my opinion that would make it easier to deal with. Plus these girls know they will be helping others.
I teach writing, and I sometimes have students disclose some very personal things. There’s something about writing–and it sounds like recording–personal stories that is therapeutic for many. It’s great there’s an organization to help with that in a structured way.
I think the concept of this organization is awesome! I agree, that writing is often therapeutic.
