Born Free USA Primate Sanctuary – Dilley, TX

The mission of Born Free USA is to work toward ending the suffering that many animals have to endure. Making the world a better place for all animals is their goal.

Campaigns & Programs

Animals In Entertainment
From marine parks to movie and television sets Born Free USA is there to check out any abuse or inadequate conditions that animals may have to endure.

Captive Exotic Animals
Born Free USA is an advocate for wild animals who have been made to live in cruel and destructive environments, such as circuses. Raising public awareness of these exploited wild animals is one of their goals.

Wildlife Trade
A great concern to Born Free USA are those who target certain wild animals for their body parts. Born Free USA is an active participant at meetings dealing with the regulation of commercial international trade of threatened and endangered species.

Trapping & Fur
Born Free USA is working to protect animals from traps that cause pain and suffering. They want to bring an end to this inhumane way to access fur for trade.

Canadian Projects
What Canada is doing to protect animals.

Companion Animals
Selling companion animals is a very profitable business. Sadly, some of these animals are treated as mere merchandise. Born Free USA is committed to protecting companion animals in hopes of enhancing the lives of these pets.

Fur As A Fashion
Born Free USA continues to spread the word about the cruelty of fur industries in hopes of ending the senseless suffering of animals for their fur.

Pet Shops
Born Free USA went undercover and found animals living in horrific conditions in pet shops. Their new campaign Little Shops of Sorrow brings public awareness to the true and horrible practices of pet shops.

Primate Sanctuary
This Sanctuary in Texas is a safe and permanent home to hundreds of animals. You can adopt a sanctuary resident for $52.00 a year which will help to provide food, care, and rehabilitation for your adopted animal. You will receive an Adoption Welcome Kit which included a biography and full color photo of your adopted animal and more.

Coexisting With Wildlife
This campaign helps educate people to coexist with wild animals that may live in their neighborhood instead of turning to lethal control efforts.

Global Field Projects
Born Free USA is a participant in many wildlife rescue efforts throughout the world.

    • I had never heard of it either. I like the fact that for a small price a person can adopt an animal. I’m thinking of doing that for my grandchildren. Thank you for stopping by to read and comment.

  2. What an informative and worthwhile way to present A to Z. Possibly some bloggers will “follow” your organizations as well. Fantastic work. Happy blogging, Cheryl

    • I wasn’t going to go with this theme, but I am glad that I did. There are so many great charities that are so low on the totem pole that many people have never heard of them. Happy Blogging to you as well!

  3. I love this theme for the A to Z challenge. There are so many great charities out there and it’s so wonderful that you’re educating people about their causes. 🙂

    • Thank you! There are so many great charities that people don’t know about. I hope this puts a spotlight on some of them. Thank you for stopping by to read and comment.

  4. Another great sounding charity. I had no idea that companion animals were treated so poorly! I always thought that they were cherished members of the family. I’m going to have to look into that a little more deeply.

    • I think this charity is concerned as to the way these animals are treated when they are being trained. Don’t quote me on that…that is just my opinion. Thank you for stopping by to read and comment.

  5. Your theme is indeed inspiring!
I wish more people could develop better understanding towards these issues. Thank you for providing this information!

  7. I LOVE this organization. You know I’m an animal lover and an advocate for their welfare too, so this topic is close to my heart. I’ve never heard of Born Free. I’m going to look closer at them. Thanks so much! Sharing this post!

    • You’re an animal lover? Who would have guessed…lol I really liked this organization myself. I am thinking of adopting an animal for my grandchildren. It really doesn’t cost that much. Thank you Jeanne for stopping by to read and comment, and for sharing this post.

  9. I did not know we had a primate sanctuary in TX. We will definitely have to add that to our list of places to visit and donate to. We spend spring break this year at Saint Francis Wolf Rescue and Sanctuary in Conroe TX.

    • I had never heard of this place either and would have visited it when I lived in Texas. If you visit let me know how it was. Thank you for taking the time to read and comment.
