There are so many songs that speak to me. It was hard to choose just one. I decided to pick the song, Concrete Angel by Martina McBride.

This song is about child abuse.

It speaks to me because I have always loved children, detested child abuse and to this day wonder why it’s often unreported.

Over the years I ran a home daycare for military children and was a day care teacher in two centers in my area. Working in such a profession you come across abuse situations. I had to personally turn a mother in because while I was changing her 3 month old daughter, I found black and blue finger prints on the child’s bottom.

Although sad, I love how this song ends. This little girl goes on to the after life with other children who have also died. And now she is loved.

It’s certainly a powerful song with such an important message.
