Anyone who knows me knows that I am very much an advocate for Organ and Tissue Donation. To me this is such an important cause.
I am a corneal transplant recipient.
Becoming an organ and tissue donor is such a generous and compassionate act. I often wonder how many people change their mind about organ and tissue donation when they or someone they love are in search of a donor. I know it changed mine.
The HRSA organdonor.gov website states that 17 people die each day waiting for an organ transplant. And right now there are 106,707 men, women and children on the national transplant list.
It’s sad that there are many misconceptions about this life saving procedure that keeps people from signing up to become a donor. Please, if you have any questions, ask your doctor or contact an organ and tissue donation organization.
