Luther Vandross
April 20, 1951 ~ July 1, 2005
Luther Vandross is another extremely talented singer who left us way too soon! He suffered from diabetes and hypertension. In 2003 a stroke left him in a coma for nearly 2 months. He died at the age of 54 due to a heart attack.
He sold over 35 million records which makes me believe I wasn’t the only one who absolutely loved his voice. The song, Dance With My Father, won him a Grammy Award (of which he already had many awards) for song of the year.
You can learn more about this extraordinary singer by reading Luther: The Life and Longing of Luther Vandross by Craig Seymore.

It’s truly sad that we’ve lost such a talented soul. Thank you for sharing his work with me, I’ve never heard of him before! Btw I’ve nominated you for the Blogger Recognition award, which you can check out here: http://bit.ly/recogDTJ
Thank you for nominating me! I have a few other award blogs I have to do before this one.
No problem! Look forward to reading it 🙂
I saw Luther in the early 90’s at Westbury Music Fair in New York! Second row and I loved every minute!! He was an awesome singer and I cried the day he died!
How lucky to have been able to see him live. I cried too : (
