Musical Monday ~ Sad Songs 2

Welcome to Musical Monday! Music has been known to affect our emotions. Listening to music can make us happy or sad, relaxed or motivated, put us to sleep or make us want to dance. Music absolutely plucks at our heartstrings bringing to the surface a multitude of emotions.

Someone once described music to me as a time machine. When we listen it often transports us back to a place in time. A certain song can bring back feelings of someone we loved, our wedding day, someone who died, or any of the many important times in our lives.

Music has always been a big part of my life. When I am sad listening to a sad song often allows me to release that sadness. Happy songs tend to take away my sadness. It has helped motivate me to do housework. Yep, just crank up the radio or a music television station and I’m good to go. Warning: Be careful not to turn your music up too loud though. I have actually blown out the speakers in a television once doing this.

I have been known to start singing in a store when a song that I like comes on, I tend to sing along with songs while I am driving, and it isn’t unusual to see me moving to the music in my computer chair as I sit and listen to music.

I would like to thank my Facebook friends and family who have helped me by giving me their song suggestions.

This week I am posting songs that make us sad….Please leave a song title that makes you sad in the comments below. You may see your song posted in upcoming blog posts. Unrequited love. It really hurts! Throw in a song about it with these words and the tone and you have a sad song that’s a hit! There have been other artists that have sung this song but in my opinion Roy Orbison sings it the best.

One of my favorite songs! The first time I heard it I was in the car with my daughter. She turned it up and told me to listen. She said that it was one of the saddest songs she had ever heard.

This song truly plucks at the heartstrings! Eric Clapton wrote this song after losing his four year old son Conor after he fell from a window 53 floors up. In my opinion this song is one of the top saddest songs ever!

I very rarely can get through this song without crying. When I hear this song it brings back memories of when I was a little girl standing on my dad’s feet as he would dance with me. I miss him so much!

One of my all time favorites! What a wonderful and sad song.

This was a song that was suggested as a sad song by a few people. I had never heard the song before although I knew Bucky Covington from American Idol. Get out the kleenex!

A real tear jerker! This song is about a young paraplegic boy who goes by the name of Teddy Bear on the CB radio. He starts up a conversation with a trucker on the road.

Another song that I did not know and sung by an American Idol winner. This song choice was given to me as a sad song. A very awesome song!

When this song came out I was in an on again off again relationship. Lasted a few years but after a while you realize that you have to cut ties and move on. Sad, but sometimes people can love each other but just can’t seem to make it work.

Quite a few people chose this as the song that makes them sad! Listen…and I’m sure you’ll agree!

    • Some of these songs were suggestions from others so I had not heard all of them either. I agree that music is an important part of our lives. Thank you for stopping by.

  1. Teddy Bear! I was raised on country music, and I used to know this one by heart. Several of the others are favorites, too – but oh, Teddy Bear…what a wonderful song, especially the ending!
