Facebook Friday ~ Facebook Page ~ Cresting The Hill

Welcome to Facebook Friday! Each Friday I will be highlighting either a Facebook Page or Facebook Group. If you are interested in participating in an interview about your Facebook Page/Group please email me at pluckingofmyheartstrings@gmail.com.

This week’s interview is with the creator of the Facebook Page, Cresting The Hill.

Please tell the readers a little about yourself.

pic1My name is Leanne and I’m a 56 year old Midlife empty nester. I work part-time as a receptionist for a surgeon at our local hospital and spend the rest of my time blogging, drinking coffee with friends, volunteering, reading, and keeping up with everyone on Facebook.

I’ve been married to my lovely husband for 35 years (with plenty of ups and downs along the way!) We have a 32 year old son who is a Mechatronic Engineer, he is married with a delightful 20 month old daughter (our only grandbaby) and they’ve just announced they have another on the way! Our daughter is 29 and teaches High School English, she is married with two cats and a dog as her contribution to our extended family.

What inspired you to create this page?

My Facebook page is called Cresting the Hill. I named it after my Blog and started it as a way to share my blog posts and any positive quotes, memes, and videos that catch my eye. I keep my personal FB page just for my family and friends and use my Cresting the Hill page to connect with other bloggers and to share any fun or uplifting posts I come across.

When I first started blogging I assumed I could be anonymous – no profile picture, no cross-over with real life, nobody would know I had a blog – but once I started my FB page that ended overnight and now family and friends pop over to see what I’m up to and what’s going on in my blogging world!

What would you like this page to accomplish?

I started my blog to give myself a space to write what about what was floating around in my head. As time has gone along I’ve become a huge advocate of Midlife – it’s a fantastic age and stage. I love our empty nest – the peace and quiet and only having ourselves and our two cats to worry about. I use my blog and my FB page to connect with other Midlifers, and I co-host a Midlife blog party every Wednesday to encourage other Midlife bloggers to read and share each other’s posts. If you are a Midlifer and you want to celebrate the second half of life then I’d encourage you to pop over to my page or subscribe to my blog.

I want my blog and my page to be positive and encouraging and a safe place to share stories and to connect and make new friends. I had no idea how wonderful blogging would be – I’ve been writing for 3 years and haven’t even come close to running out of things to say. My next big challenge will be in April when I tackle the Annual AtoZ Challenge – I’m bracing myself for that one because it’s full on!

Thanks so much to Cheryl for inviting me to share my page here and if I’ve caught anyone’s interest please pop over for a visit. xx

Thank you so much Leanne for taking the time to tell us about your Facebook page.

  1. What fun to see Cresting the Hill here. I already follow her blog, so can’t add it there, but I don’t think I follow on her FB page. I’ll have to go check. (It’s hard to tell now that FB shows us page posts so rarely anymore.)
    Happy Friday!

  2. Thanks so much for featuring me and my FB page today Cheryl. It’s been lovely connecting with you and I’ve also met some other great bloggers who are fans of yours too xx
