O Is For Organ & Tissue Donation ~ All About Me From A to Z~ Blogging From A to Z April Challenge 2024

Last week I had an eye doctor appointment. He was so impressed with how my corneal transplant looked. I’ve been told this by so many eye doctors over the years. I absolutely had the best corneal surgeon and my corneal donor was a great match!

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 23 years since my corneal transplant. Although there was a bit of a rocky start, it ended up being a very successful corneal transplant and one of longevity. I couldn’t be happier! It’s sad though, to think that someone lost a loved one in order for me to be free of pain.

Many years ago I had a man reach out to me and ask if I would join his cause to make organ and tissue donation mandatory. He was waiting for a liver and was running out of time. Although I am very much an advocate for organ and tissue donation, I feel that this act should be a personal choice.

What do you think? Should organ and tissue donation be mandatory?
