#Bloganuary Writing Prompt ~ What are 5 things you’re grateful for today? ~ January 10, 2022

There are so many things to be grateful for, yet we often take those things for granted.

I am grateful for the time I had with my dad and mom. Although I wish I could have had more time with them, I am so very grateful for the time I was given. Some people are not given that opportunity. My dad died in 1995 from lung cancer at 62. I was 38 at the time. My mom, in 2011 from CLL (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia). I was 54.

I am grateful for being able to have my children. Some people are not given that opportunity.

I am grateful for my health. Yes, you heard that right. Although I deal with a multitude of medical issues that have caused difficulty with my quality of life, I am still able to do things that others cannot.

I am grateful for my corneal donor. If not for him, I would still be experiencing excruciating pain. For years I suffered with recurring corneal erosion. This means that the top layer of my corneal would break up and fall off. The cornea has many nerve cells and hundreds of more pain receptors than there are in our skin.

I am grateful for music. Well, maybe not rap…lol. There is so many benefits to music. Music can help with medical issues such as anxiety, blood pressure and can improve sleep. Music Therapy is used with Alzheimer’s disease, autism, and other conditions. The benefits of music are unlimited!
