About Me
I came into this world on a summer morning on July 22, 1957.
Newborn babies usually do not cry real tears at birth because their tear ducts have not formed yet. But I cried real tears!
I have been through many things in my life and have dealt with a multitude of situations and emotions.
I have been married and divorced twice.
I am an ex-navy wife.
I am a mom, a Grammie of 10 (so far), a sister, an aunt, and a friend of longevity.
I have a son and a son-in-law in the US Navy and am very proud of their job decision and their accomplishments.
My job as a mother is FOREVER. It will not stop when a child of mine reaches the age of 18!
I have always been well liked, but not liked by all.
I can stretch a dollar like it’s a rubber band.
I like the person I am.
I graduated from a writing school.
I am in the process of writing a book.
I graduated from University of Phoenix at the age of 56 with an associate’s degree in Art (and a 3.2 GPA)
I am disabled, having a multitude of health issues.
I had a corneal transplant and since then have become an advocate for organ and tissue donation.
One of my hobbies is finding those who share the exact birthday as me – July 22, 1957.
There is much more ABOUT ME but I guess you will have to follow my blog if you’d like to find these things out : )
Thanks so much for the follow, fabulous blog!
Hello there Mike. I just wanted to drop by and thank you for following my blog. I also wanted to wish you the best of luck in your future blogging.
I apologize for the first comment. You can delete it if you want because I accidentally wrote a comment for someone else on here haha. But I wanted to thank you as well for the follow and wish you the best of luck in your future writing.

Looking forward to reading your posts
Thanks Cheryl for liking one of my A to Z blog posts!

I think it’s cool that you’re looking for people who share your birthday. Have you found many? I had a good friend whose bday was July 21, but a different year. That’s the closest I can come to helping. I’ve never met anyone born on my bday either. I think that would be cool!
Hello there! Thanks so much for the follow on my blog! 🙂 I look forward to looking through yours. Love your about me page.

Hi Cheryl! Just wanted to let you know that I nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award. You don’t have to go through the rules if you don’t care to, but I wanted to acknowledge you. 🙂 Have a great night. Eva http://wp.me/p4xX1Z-cI
Thank you for the acknowledgement. I’m a bit behind since I fractured my elbow but I definitely will accept this. Hopefully I’ll be able to blog about it sometime next week, maybe even sooner.

Thank you for including me. I will be working on this soon.
Hi Cheryl
Thank you so much for following my blog for almost the past year. As a fellow blogger, I would like to share an upcoming art project that God led me to do. How may I contact you? Thank you very much.
I believe my email can be found in my about me section. You can contact me at pluckingofmyheartstrings@gmail.com.
Also, I noticed you are self-hosted, but the +follow in corner still works. I really like that because I want to still see everything in my reader and NOT get a million emails. Is this an option you chose? I’m moving to self-hosted, but I want to keep the easy follow in reader for people, like you have done.I look forward to reading your work for these amazing causes.
I am not self-hosted. I tried that once but it’s too complicated for me. I do plan on self hosting sometime down the line though.
Hi! So nice to meet you. My father was a 20 year Navy man. It seems like we have a few things in common! Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope you have a happy A to Z!
Hi Lillian. Looking forward to your A-to-Z posts. In my case I never left the United States. Will be nice to visit other places through you….You have a happy A to Z as well.
Interesting page and nice to know you a bit from this page.
Thanks Parual. I visited your page and will be following. Nice to meet you!
Hi Cheryl, congratulations on getting your degree in your 50’s. I was 47 when I got mine. The day I attended my graduation ceremony was the second proudest day of my life. I was so pleased to be sharing the stage with people getting their degree in their 80s and 90s.
Thank you! I never graduated high school, got my GED. So this was the first time I walked on stage to receive a diploma! It was awesome and my kids and grandkids were there. I remember when I was leaving I overheard a young girl say to another, “Did you see all the old people who graduated?” LOL
Thanks for the follow 🙂 well-written “about me”. loved it!
You are welcome! Good luck with the A to Z Challenge!
Dropping by for a visit from the A to Z Challenge 🙂 While I do not share the same birthday as you, July 22nd is my husband’s and my anniversary so it is a very good day, indeed. I am looking forward to following you and getting to know you. Good luck with the remaining letters!

That’s cool that you were married on my birthday 🙂 I can’t believe that we are more than halfway through the challenge already! Thank you for stopping by and good luck to you as well.
Nice to meet you.
Nice to meet you as well : )
Great to know more about you Cheryl! Glad that our paths have crossed:)
I am glad as well : )
Thanks for stopping by our travel adventure blog! I did finally meet some one thanks to Facebook who was born the same day and year as I was! I worked with her husband and her parents attended church with me. Needless to say, we became fast friends and now say we are sisters from a different mother! We were able to celebrate only once since, but we plan to get together again one day. We now live far apart….
I meant we say we are twins from a different mother! We were also married around the same time and are about the same size and hair color!
You both sure have a lot of similarities! Thank you Debbie for stopping by!
Yes, it was fun discovering all of our similarities!
It really is fun to meet someone born on the day! Hopefully you’ll get to see each other again soon.
We’re hoping!
Cheryl,
A very inspiring “About” page. Loved to read of your devotion to education and your commitment to learning and your pursuit of it, against odds.
You are truly an inspiration, especially to someone like me who is planning to do her Masters in public health and is saving up for it ( I am 47)- in about 3 years time, I hope to get to one of my dream colleges.
God bless.
Susie
Never give up a dream based on age! When I was leaving my college graduation I walked by a group of young girls. I heard one of them say, “Did you see all the old people who graduated?” It made me laugh. Good luck to you on your future endeavors.
Thank you, Cheryl.
I love your about me! Thank you for liking my Dear Pain post. I look forward to reading more of your blogs! Have a beautiful day!
You are welcome. Looking forward to reading more of your posts. You have a great day!

I am glad I came across your blog and looking forward to reading more…
Welcome! I’m glad you are here.
I’m glad you are as well : )
As I bounced around my comments this morning I saw your name and that you had like a post at mynameisjamie.net about my fear for my grandsons. I haven’t read any of your blog posts yet but when I read your description of yourself and your life I could have been reading about me. Yes, there were details that were different like interchange change marines with navy, and we are 6 days apart in age although I beat you by 3years in age and I to am also writing a book. I’m on the first rewrite. You are accomplished in art and I compose music and the list goes on. I am passionate about what I write and ill be interested to see what you write about as well. Have a great day!
It’s nice to meet you! I am looking forward to reading more of what you write.
(smiling)
Hello from Ireland & thanks for the follow! I look forward to reading your take on life : ]
Hi Sharon! I am so glad I found your blog. Looking forward to reading more of what you write.
Nice to meet you, thanks for the follow. I look forward to exploring your site.
Nice to meet you also…looking forward to reading you blog posts.
Thanks I appreciate that. I have been so busy that I have not written or posted anything for awhile, although I did today, but I am having reservations about that last post.
I saw that our comments crisscrossed. I sometimes write something and wonder if I should have posted it. I think when we put our feelings out there we get a little anxious as to what someone might think. It’s all good : )
That happens a lot I always wonder about posting things too, but s long as it’s nit anything negative then it’s not so serious.
Wonderful about page. Keep crying. A friend of mine just had his tear ducts messed up. Tears the right way are such a blessing! Thanks again for finding me. I don’t know how you did, but it’s great to know you. 🙂
Hi Marsha. I actually know someone who had a clogged tear duct and dry eye can really mess up your cornea.Every once in a while I blog hop and that is how I found you. I check out a blog and look to see who they follow or if someone catches my eye with a comment. I also do google searches. I love finding new blogs.
I do too, but I think you are better at it than I am. It takes a lot of time, then you don’t want to leave them high and dry after you find them. I think I’ve made more actual friends in the last three or four months than I did in 4 years of blogging before. Once I got established as a blogger, I quit reaching out so aggressively. You have to keep it up because people fall away, sadly.
I think a lot of bloggers are so busy doing their own thing that there isn’t much time for socializing with other bloggers. I deal with a lot of health issues and there are times I am not around for a while. Bloggers do seem to come and go, don’t they?
I finally got caught up with your selections up to March 13. It is hard to get to reading other people’s blogs and keep your own coming, research, and live life! I’m sorry about your health issues. That complicates life even further. I guess that is why all bloggers seem to come and go. I just got a long comment from Robin Leigh Morgan on a different post, and I have know her for five years of blogging, but I probably haven’t heard from her in years. So you never know. I hope you will enjoy visiting my choices for March as well. 🙂
Blogging can be very time consuming! I’m home and have no little children to chase after so I have more online time than some. People have so many things going on in their lives that I understand when I don’t hear from someone for long periods of time. I have noticed while doing my A Blog A Day post that often I visit a site that hasn’t been active in many years.
Yes, that’s happened to me, too. I started to go through my 1,500 subscribers a couple of months ago, and was surprised at how many of them were no longer blogging. I do not have children either, and am somewhat retired. I am addicted to blogging, though! 🙂
I go through my subscribers often. I don’t unfollow in case someone decides to start blogging again.
That is kind of you. I don’t go through mine enough. I did when I first started. I try to go through the recent ones, of course, but to get back through all of them, I started that a couple of months ago, and sadly quit before I finished.
I try my best. Everything pertaining to blogging is so time consuming! I’m always running behind…lol
Me too! I have several posts on time management. We all need more hours. 🙂
Hi Cheryl,
thank you for visiting my blog! I feel you are an inspiration and your blog is pretty interesting too!
Thank you! I enjoy visiting your blog as well.
hello mam, I was deeply moved by your introduction page, I can’t explain why and that is why I have nominated you for the mystery blogger award. I know your blog has gained momentum and is no longer a mystery but here bloggers acknowledge the works of fellow bloggers and also interact with them. I hope you would accept my nomination 🙂
https://honeyleafs.wordpress.com/2017/03/10/the-mystery-blogger-award/
Thank you so much for nominating me for the mystery blogger award. I am so behind and have three other awards to get to before this one. As soon as I can I will participate. Thanks again!!
