I would like to go back to around 1907. This is the year my great grandparents migrated to the United States from Germany. I would have really liked to have met them.
Both of my great grandparents were deaf and mute (back then they referred to being mute as dumb).
They had eight children, but while on their voyage to America, their twin babies died from a type of flu.
My great grandfather built the house they lived in. He made the walls inside of tin. That way he and my great grandmother would be able to tell if the children were jumping around upstairs. When they did, the tin would vibrate and move.
I just think meeting these ancestors of mine would be so interesting. What a life they must have led.
