I wonder if it was a canine who declared January 24th as National Peanut Butter Day? Anyone who shares their home with a four legged canine family member knows just how much they absolutely love this gooey golden brown blend of deliciousness.
Peanut butter is a popular treat among tail-waggers. Filling a Kong with frozen peanut butter can often keep a dog busy for quite a while. It’s also a great training treat.

Can’t get that stubborn pooch to take their medication? Try smearing some peanut butter on the pill or capsule.
Peanut butter is also an excellent source of protein, containing heart healthy fats and important vitamins. However, this food should be fed in moderation and to healthy dogs.
Always check the ingredients in the peanut butter you are feeding your canine. Xylitol, an artificial sweetener sometimes found in peanut butter, can be toxic to dogs.
Will your pup be celebrating National Peanut Butter Day?

We have a hound dog that’s not interested in chew toys, but when we had a great Dane, the Kong (XL size for him!) was the ONLY toy that he couldn’t destroy. Kongs are great, and yes, they’re even better filled with peanut butter.:-)
Dogs are like people, each one has their own personality. Great Danes are awesome! Kongs have been a life saver for me, as they keep my very active Sheltie occupied for a bit.
not sure why, Cheryl, but my dog, even when a puppy, never liked her Kong with peanut butter. and then after awhile decided she didn’t like the Kong either. they do have their own minds.
I agree, dogs do have their own mind. I’ve had enough dogs to know that they all have their own personality.
Missed this on PB day – but sure ate the good stuff that day anyway. Thanks for the xylitol reminder for our pooches!
Thank you for stopping by. It’s much appreciated.
And to you as well, for stopping by mine!
Our dog is definitely a peanut butter hound. Nice post.
Thank you. I think most dogs love peanut butter, but there are some that won’t touch it.
