Welcome to Musical Monday! Music has been known to affect our emotions. Listening to music can make us happy or sad, relaxed or motivated, put us to sleep or make us want to dance. Music absolutely plucks at our heartstrings bringing to the surface a multitude of emotions.
Someone once described music to me as a time machine. When we listen it often transports us back to a place in time. A certain song can bring back feelings of someone we loved, our wedding day, someone who died, or any of the many important times in our lives.
Music has always been a big part of my life. When I am sad listening to a sad song often allows me to release that sadness. Happy songs tend to take away my sadness. It has helped motivate me to do housework. Yep, just crank up the radio or a music television station and I’m good to go. Warning: Be careful not to turn your music up too loud though. I have actually blown out the speakers in a television once doing this.
I have been known to start singing in a store when a song that I like comes on, I tend to sing along with songs while I am driving, and it isn’t unusual to see me moving to the music in my computer chair as I sit and listen to music.

That’s a great list. I voted for “War” but easily could have gone with one of the others. My favorite hit song of 1970 not on the list is “Spirit in the Sky” by Norman Greenbaum.
Spirit In The Sky is a great song! Of all the years of music I like the songs of the 70’s the best.
I bought the 3 Dog Night single and the LP Bridge over Troubled Waters, but Cecilia is not my favourite song so I’ve gone with 3 Dog Night. I think the LP might have been a later purchase though. I was 13 in 1970 and I don’t think I’d have had enough money (and I know it wasn’t a gift).
I love most music, not too keen on hard rock though. I think one the first 3 Dog Night single I bought was Joy To The World.
These are all great tunes, but it’s been a long time since I heard “Gimme Dat Ding.” Nice going!

I like Melanie a lot, but some of her material does not appeal to me, but when she does, she really does. She did a lot of covers, and also original stuff. I think what I didn’t like about some of it was the production. She has a hell of a voice when it’s a good song. I think she tends to get over looked as a novelty song singer with the, Brand New Key song.

I remember having an album of hers that I played often.
I really only heard that song Brand New Key, back in the day, and I did not like it. I only discovered her other work through youtube several years ago.

I do too. The only kind of music that I haven’t been able to get really into has been rap.
Oh, rap, ugh. I don’t like that either, or techno pop, and funk.
